At the end of 2020, W&O recognised the upcoming supply chain challenges combined with an increasing demand for newbuild valve packages and refit and repair needs from ship-operators and shipyards.
To meet this increased demand and maintain the standards we offer our clients, W&O has invested in our European operations by expanding our central warehouse and distribution centre in the Netherlands to 4,000m2.
The new facilities will expand our onsite testing capabilities, allowing us to conduct factory acceptance testing, class testing in the facility. The expanded warehouse will also grant more storage space for our extensive catalogue of specialist items for the continuation of shipping’s daily operations.
W&O Europe has three valve test units which can handle valves up to DN 1000 mainly used for ballast water intake for scrubbers or large size vessels.
Being able to source and guarantee pre-tested specialist items at short notice, is a key part of W&O’s offer to our clients. We aim to work closely with our customers to develop lasting supply agreements that ensure the correct components on time – even in emergencies.
The expansion of our European warehouse also enables W&O to operate actively within the class landscape. With daily valve class tests we can play an effective role alongside the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) in ensuring the safe and continuous operation of one of the world’s most vital supply chains.
Already the US’ leading supplier to the maritime industry, W&O’s expansion of its European distribution centre, and the close cooperation with the W&O office in Singapore is a vital step to strengthen our support towards global operating shipowners. We look forward to working more closely on the ground with our customers.
